The Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Firmin Mvonde, requested authorization from the National Assembly on Monday to prosecute Justice Minister Constant Mutamba for embezzlement. Mvonde has already obtained authorization to investigate a case of alleged embezzlement of $19 million related to the construction of a prison in Kisangani. If the Assembly grants authorization, Mutamba will have to resign within 24 hours before his trial.
